HAM with Windows Vista/Win7

How do I install HAM?
When you download HAM, just execute the downloaded self-installing file (hamXXX.exe for updates or hamXXXSetup.exe for full installs).

I have installed HAM and retreived my team data, but the graphs are empty. What is wrong?
The graphs in HAM displays the development of your team and players. Only when you have used HAM for some time (a few days to a week), will the graphs start displaying data.

HAM displays my training as "general" but I was training Keeper last week?
HAM uses the first .HRF file retreived after the time of training selected in the settings dialog. If you change your training type in Hattrick before you retreive .HRF data, HAM will get it wrong. Open Team Stats and go to the Training tab. Right click on the week with wrong training type and select the correct type.

One of my players has not received training this week, according to HAM, even though he played?
When a player is sent off or injured, HAM will not count him as training that week. He will, however, receive training in Hattrick. Please don't contact Hattrick personel stating that your player has not received training, because HAM says so. HAM is not a part of Hattrick. If HAM has gotten something wrong with the training, it is because of HAM - not an error in Hattrick.

HAM displays an error "Connection timed out (Error #10060)" whenever I use online functionality?
This is usually caused by one of three things: If you are using a proxy server, enter the proxy details in the Online tab in the settings dialog. If you are using a firewall, make sure that HAM is allowed access through your firewall. Maybe the Hattrick site is busy and slow to respond.

After updating HAM to a version later than 2.0.18.x, my training shows all 0?
Most likely this is caused by wrong training settings. Adjust the settings on the Training tab of the Settings dialog. Alternatively, you can go to the General tab of the Settings dialog and select "Classic" training display. That will return to the old way of showing traiing.

How does effect and duration in the training settings work?
Effect is the amount of training received by a player. If a player plays as an inner midfielder, he receives playmaking training if that is what is trainined this week. A player that played winger also receives playmaking training, but not as much as the inner midfielder. In the effect settings, adjust each position for each training type to what you believe players benefits from that type of training.

Duration is the amount of training needed to gain a full skill level. The amount is calculated in primary full weeks (ie. playmaking training as inner midfielder). Enter length in weeks you believe is needed for a full gain for a 17 year old player, under optimal conditions (solid coach and 10 relevant assistants) for each skill type.

Finally enter the extra time you belive is needed for each year over 17, each coach level below solid, and each assistant under 10.

Some may disagree to this way of defining training in Hattrick. And it is not an official way whatsoever. No HT-person has ever stated that this way to calculate training has any foundation in reality. But for the time being, this is the way HAM does it. Remember, that you alway has the option to return to the "classic" way of displaying training, if you disagree with it. :-)

What are the two numbers displayed in the new training display (5.2/10.4)?
The first is the amount of training a player has received, based on the training effect settings. Let's say that playmaking effects are set to 60% for wingers and 100% for inner midfielders. A player that has trained three weeks, two as a winger and one as an inner midfielder, will display 2.2 (1*100%+2*60%) weeks of training.

The second number is the calculated duration needed to gain a full level for this player, with the current coach and number of assistants.

Some of the values in the match list are not displayed?
Since version 2.0.18.X, hattrick.org requires a login for retreival of weather, crowd and hattrick matchratings (midfield, left defence, etc.), currently this extra info is only available for managers haveing English as their hattrick.org language.

I get this error »MSXML not installed« when trying export/import!
Download and install MSXML from Microsoft.

Can I "move" my HAM registration to a new team?
No. HAM Registration is only valid for use with one TeamID. This is explained in the End User License Agreement (EULA) that you accept when installing HAM.

How do I move HAM to a new computer without loosing my data?
Make a copy of the two files HAM.dat (all data) and HAM.ini (settings). Install HAM normally on the new computer. Place the two files in your new HAM folder. It is also recommendable to make a backup of all your HRF data if you have those files saved.

Is it possible for two or more registered teams to use HAM on the same PC?
Yes it is. You have to activate the Multiple Registered Team functionality.
  • On the general tab of the Settings dialog, check the box marked »Multiple teams are using this registered version«
  • From the Help menu, select »Multiple TeamID Registration«
  • Perform each registration, selecting a different .dat file for each team.
HAM will now prompt for which team to use every time you open the program.

It might be a good idea to make a backup of your HAM folder first - just to be safe

It is not possible to have both registered users and evaluation copies installed on the same PC at the same time.

My youth pull does not show up in the Youth Pull list/My sold player does not show up with the correct transfer fee?
Youth pulls, sold players and players you have recieved mother club money for needs to have their transfer history and memorable moments manually updated. You do this on the History tab of the Player Development dialog.

After Thursday, October 16. 2003, can I still use the older versions of HAM
From that date, only CHPP approved programs can be used to access the Hattrick website. All versions of HAM identifies themselves as HAM, when making requests to Hattrick, so you run a very real risk of getting fined or even losing your team, if you use the old non-CHPP approved versions after that date.

I get "Internal Server Error" when I try to get my HRF data
First, find a working Hattrick IP address. Do this by logging into Hattrick with your normal browser. The address field of the browser will show a working IP after logging in. Select this IP on the Online tab of the Settings dialog in HAM. Close and restart HAM (this might not be necessary for all users, but just to make sure). If the problem persists, make sure that your firewall is allowing HAM access to the Hattrick IP.

My youth pull is reported in the wrong week?
You can move the youth pull date on the Economy tab of the Player Details dialog. Right-click the youth pull date to change.

Can I "unregister" HAM?
Yes, you can turn HAM into an evaluation version again by starting HAM with the parameter "unregister". Start HAM.exe from the Windows Start Menu, Run option. IE. Run "C:\Program Files\HAM\HAM.exe unregister"

HAM said "Your HAM registration could not be validated". What now?
When running the HAM Matchviewer for the first time, you accepted to verify your registration on the Loke Software server. This check may have failed due to an error, and if so I appologise. Please contact Loke Software and we will clear the matter as fast as possible.
Please note, that when registering HAM it may take up to 3 hours before online registration validation works due to server synchronization.

I am using Multiple Registered Teams, and I want to renew my registration key?
Automatic Registration Key renewal does not work for multiple registered users. Instead, use the Lost Key Retrieval on this site to get new keys for all registered teams. Go to the Multiple Team Registration dialog and take a note of the .dat files used by each team. Delete all registrations (by right-clicking them) and perform the registrations again with the new keys, selecting the same .dat files as previously used.

All my position columns shows N/A instead of a value. What is the problem?
A new weight system introduced in version 5.2.52.153 has made the old weight columns obsolete. You can replace the old columns with some of the new ones in the "Edit Columns" functionality (Functions menu).

As a national coach, can I use HAM for the national team?
No, not really. HAM is not designed for use with national teams, and Hattrick does not support automated download of data for those teams. But should you find any use in HAM for your national team anyway, you are most welcome to use it. All national teams are already registered for HAM use. So if you would like to use HAM as a national coach, all you have to do is to use the Lost Key function here on the HAM website in order to get the registration key sent to your email address. Please note, that any such usage is completely unsupported.

When trying to install HAM, I get the error HAM installation couldn't be found.Try re-installing the application before running update.
You need to download and install the Full Install version, found below the mirror list on the download page.

I have lost my registration key and need it again.
You can get it sent to your email by using the Lost Key function found in the menu to the left.

I get this error: "Error while retrieving team data, HTTP/1.1 404 not found"
The error is caused by HAM trying to retrieve the now obsolete HRF file. Either disable HRF retrieval in the Settings dialog, or better yet, update your HAM to the latest version.

Est-ce que je peux avoir de l'aide en français? (Is it possible to get support in French?)
Non, désolé. (I'm affraid not)

HAM with Windows Vista/Win7
Some users are having problems running HAM under Windows Vista. HAM will initially run, but subsequent tries to run HAM fails. This is caused by the new User Account Control in Vista. You can either solve this by disabling User Account Control, or by opening properties for HAM.exe, go to the compatibility tab and select HAM to run as administrator.
